Clarinetist/composer Mandat to perform at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾

Clarinetist and composer Eric Mandat this week will be the first performer and lecturer in ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾’s Fall 2008 Artists in Residence program.

“Eric’s compositions are fresh and inventive,” said Dr. Kelly Johnson, associate professor of music at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾. “I believe this will inspire students to view the clarinet in a more creative way. I think that any student that comes will be impressed with Eric’s vision and touched by his sense of humor.”

Mandat teaches clarinet classes and music analysis courses at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. His career as a musician includes performing with the Mozart Concerto in 1991, Chicago Symphony
