ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ ARCHIVES TO DISPLAY BLOCK/HENDERSON COLLECTION

The ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Archives will display all the materials held in the Block/Henderson Collection from Oct. 16-27.

This collection was created to preserve the many letters and cards of condolence, and banners of condolence that were sent to the ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Community after the fatal shootings of two ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ students, Chavares Block, 19, and Ryan Henderson, 18, on Oct. 26, 2008.

Visitors to the ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Archives will be able to read the letters written to ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ students and see the two large banners and the touching comments made by those at Hendrix College and Northern Illinois University.

The ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Archives is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Hendrix College created a large banner, approximately four feet wide and twelve feet long, signed by about 500 students, faculty and staff.  Northern Illinois University also created a condolence banner and students drove the banner from DeKalb, Illinois to Conway, a distance of over 620 miles and presented the banner to ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ officials at the halftime of a football game at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾.

All of these items will be on display in the ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Archives and the public is invited.
