The University of Central Arkansas Honors College will be renamed the Norbert O. Schedler Honors College in a ceremony on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the McCastlain Hall Ballroom.
Visitors also can attend the Open House at 1 p.m. in the Honors Center at McAlister Hall, prior to the naming ceremony.
The ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Board of Trustees approved the renaming at its February 2013 meeting.
Schedler founded the ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Honors College 30 years ago in 1982. Since it began, the college has seen about 1300 students complete its curriculum. More than 80 percent of Honors graduates pursue post-baccalaureate education.
Schedler came to ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ in 1976 as the chair of the Department of Philosophy. He has received national awards and distinctions for his scholarship and service to professional organizations. He was named a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in 2012.
