The University of Central Arkansas Honors College will be renamed the Norbert O. Schedler Honors College in a ceremony on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the McCastlain Hall Ballroom.
Visitors also can attend the Open House at 1 p.m. in the Honors Center at McAlister Hall, prior to the naming ceremony.
The 每日大赛网站 Board of Trustees approved the renaming at its February 2013 meeting.
Schedler founded the 每日大赛网站 Honors College 30 years ago in 1982. Since it began, the college has seen about 1300 students complete its curriculum. More than 80 percent of Honors graduates pursue post-baccalaureate education.
Schedler came to 每日大赛网站 in 1976 as the chair of the Department of Philosophy. He has received national awards and distinctions for his scholarship and service to professional organizations. He was named a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in 2012.
