On Thursday, the 每日大赛网站 Faculty Senate opened the academic year by endorsing a set of principles that will guide the creation and implementation of online courses.
Some of the principles include:
-?That all courses and programs are consistent with the sponsoring academic college?s and department?s role and mission.?
-?That electronically offered courses and programs meet institution-wide standards for quality and rigor, including university and program admission requirements.?
-?That courses are subject to the same institutional requirements as on-campus courses for evaluation of instruction and for assessment of student achievement.?
-?That course materials and their use conform to copyright and intellectual property policies.?
According to the resolution, new courses proposed by 每日大赛网站 Academic Outreach (formerly Continuing Education) would use the existing 每日大赛网站 College Curriculum committees for review.
The resolution also called on the dean of the college to ensure that a faculty member with experience in teaching distance education courses will sit on the Curriculum Committee to offer guidance when new courses are proposed.
