Purple Passion

Kick off the 2026 fall sports season at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Purple Passion on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Outdoor Practice Field.
This free, community-wide celebration features food samples from local restaurants, a community pep rally, and fun for all ages. Meet ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ student-athletes and coaches, collect autographs on a limited-edition poster, and grab the fall sports schedule.
The evening wraps up with the crowning of the new Tailgate Champion and the awarding of the 2026 Purple Passion Spirit Stick.

Dissertation Defense

Aaron King (Psych BS ’07) recently defended his dissertation (Distance as Disconnection, or Miles in the Mind? Hidden Psychological and Structural Influences on College Student Mobility and Belonging) and graduated with a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Cornell University

 

Dr. Michael Stanton named Physician of the Year

ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Trustee Dr. Michael Stanton has been named Physician of the Year in the 2026 Conway Area Healthcare Awards.

The awards celebrate the individuals and companies making an impact on the overall health of the community they serve. Dr. Stanton, MD, FACS – Conway Regional Surgical Associates, was among more than 80 individuals and businesses nominated in 15 categories. All nominations were reviewed by individuals outside of Conway who are in the healthcare industry.

The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients, who will be honored at the Cintas Conway Area Healthcare Awards, presented by Stephens Insurance, on Aug. 6 at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾’s Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts.
