The Department of Government, Public Service, and International Studies (GPI) is sponsoring the 2026 Constitution Day Commemoration at ÿ�մ�����վ on Thursday, September 17th. The event, which is co-sponsored by the ÿ�մ�����վ Pre-Law Society and Pi Sigma Alpha – Political Science Honors Society, will be held in room #143 in McCastlain Hall at 4:00pm. The guest speaker for the event will be Judge Price Marshall, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Students, staff, faculty, and other guests are invited to attend.

Have a Professional Development Opportunity in Mind? A Faculty Development Grant May Help!

Is there a workshop, training conference, or other professional development opportunity that could strengthen your teaching or help you develop your curriculum?

CETAL Faculty Development Grants can provide funding to support eligible professional development activities focused on teaching, instructional design, curriculum, or pedagogy. Funding may support in-person or online opportunities, and the committee reviews applications five times throughout the academic year.

ÿ�մ�����վ’s Next Generation Service Corps (NGSC) is now accepting applications for the first NGSC program in Arkansas!

The NGSC offers students a unique academic and experiential opportunity. NGSC is open to first semester ÿ�մ�����վ students, regardless of major, who express an interest in public service, community engagement, and solving policy problems.

NGSC students complete academic courses to increase civic knowledge and engage in activities that help build leadership and policy skills to become the next generation of public service leaders.

Students participate in internships and community service, network with public service professionals, attend site visits to government agencies and non-profit organizations, and meet students from across the country who are dedicated to public service. In short, the ÿ�մ�����վ NSGC prepares students to be leaders in all fields, across all sectors, working collaboratively to better their communities.

Who is the ideal Next Generation Service Corps student?

NGSC encourages first semester ÿ�մ�����վ students from ALL MAJORS to apply to the program. We are particularly interested in students who:
 Have demonstrated a commitment to public service through volunteer activities and/or community service.
 Are passionate about solving public policy problems and implementing solutions for policy change.
 Are interested in working collaboratively across all sectors (government, non-profit, and private industry) to learn about and solve public policy problems.
 Are interested in public service careers in government agencies and non-profit organizations.

This fall, ÿ�մ�����վ is preparing for our March 2027 reaffirmation visit from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Over the next several weeks, we’ll spotlight each of HLC’s four Criteria for Accreditation and release the corresponding section of ÿ�մ�����վ’s draft Assurance Argument for campus review.

We begin with Criterion 1: Mission. The Criterion 1 draft is now available, and we invite the campus community to help us make sure it accurately and completely reflects ÿ�մ�����վ.
